Transition Between Days

A match-cut exercise. Six days of the week arrive out of order, each composition handing off to the next through an edge the cut holds still.

Made for a School of Motion course, where the brief was the cut itself rather than what sits on either side of it.

It opens on a title card — A WEEK — over New York street textures, and then the days arrive in the wrong order: Friday, Monday, Sunday, Saturday, Wednesday, Thursday. Tuesday never turns up. Nothing here asks to be read as time passing.

What carries instead is the match. A torn edge, a block of colour or a column of type holds its position across the cut while everything around it is replaced, so one composition becomes the next by rhyme rather than by sequence.
